Thinking about Caledon? A short guide for families moving north
More space, bigger skies and the city still within reach. What to know before you fall for a home up north.
For many of our clients, the move north is about space: room for family, for a studio, for a long driveway lined with trees. Caledon and King offer that, with the city still close enough for work and dinner.
Look beyond the house
With country properties, the land matters as much as the home. We look at the lot, the orientation of the house to the light, mature trees, drainage and how the property sits relative to its neighbours.
Questions we ask on every viewing
- Is the home on well and septic, and when were they last inspected?
- Are there conservation or planning considerations on the land?
- What does winter access look like for the driveway?
- Which schools, clubs and amenities are a realistic drive away?
The right estate feels like a retreat on the first visit and still works on an ordinary Tuesday.
If you are considering a move north, we are happy to plan a day of curated viewings and talk through the trade-offs honestly.
